29 Year old Nigerian bags a PhD in Nuclear Physics


Opeyemi, a 29-year-old Nigerian woman recently bagged a PhD in Physics from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Her thesis investigated the effects of fission product bombardment on glassy carbon. She studied the diffusion behavior of nuclear fission products in glassy carbon after heat treatment using Rutherford’s Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS).

She got her BSc in Applied physics (Geophysics) at the University of Lagos. She followed her passion and enrolled at the University of Pretoria, South Africa where she has now gotten an MSc in Physics. She enrolled for the PhD Degree program in Physics at the University of Pretoria, South Africa and is now an academic expert in the field. She is a member of The South African Institute of Physics and winner of several merit awards based on her research and other works.
